Jakob Nielsen really caused a firestorm with his latest look at PDF files and usability. We have a fantastic thread covering the debate here >>> Usability and pdf files
Dirk Knemeyer, Chief Design Officer at Thread Inc. ( Experience Information Design) is rounding up usability and information design folks for some ideas and promotion of the related disciplines.
"A variety of people and groups around the world are coming together to build and promote the discipline of Information Design. We would love to have you involved! As an initial step we are asking everyone who may be interested to fill out a simple online survey.

Please respond to the online survey no later than Friday August 1.
This independent endeavor is supported by:

Can't say everything is plugged in again, but I'm definitely moved into my new house! It's wonderful to finally be here. The office is still unorganized, and I learned my DSL won't be connected until next week. I'm back to using a 56k dial-up connection and tying up the phone line - and making everybody mad about that.
I'm not caught up on all the news but I did catch the big whopper story that Yahoo! is purchasing Overture. Who needs soap operas, when we have "All My Search Engines" and "The Bold and The Bountiful"?
SEO folks have been picking up the vibes from Yahoo! for months now, so this news just reinforces what they were feeling. Will be interesting to see what moves Google and MSN make next.
Meanwhile, I'm catching up on a zillion posts at Cre8asiteForums and finding where I packed everything. There's so many computers and cables and stuff everywhere too. Life used to be so much simpler and non-technical.
Watch for news from Site Report.com and Cre8pc.com if you're in need of usability testing and website evaluations.
