Warmest Greetings,

Happy Birthday Peter Da Vanzo, of SearchEngineBlog.com, and one of Cre8asiteForums.com sexiest Moderators.

Ahhhh....for some peaceful web design...Zen and the Art of CSS
Some threads of interest at Cre8asite Forums...
Google's Blog Search? - "Google is to create a search tool specifically for weblogs, most likely giving material generated by the self-publishing tools its own tab."
Bad Neighborhoods - "If you can see a site doing something that just doesn't seem right (or as you put it - "fair") then that site or group of sites is likely to trigger a penalty. When it's a whole group of sites getting said penalty, it's called a "bad neighborhood".
3 Clicks and You're Out? - Tackling this navigation rule of thumb or is it simply bad advice?
Linking between clients - Should you, and if so, how?
The Web Awards are looking for submissions and judges.

For those of you familiar with Jimworld, Virtual Promote and SearchEngineForums.com, this may come as a sad surprise.
Jim Wilson died of heart failure of Tuesday, May 6.
A memorial site is located here: http://memorial.jimworld.com
I've visited Jim's sites for many years and relied on his work in spam and scumware reporting. He'll be missed.

We're BACK!! Cre8asiteForums status report...
As of 5pm EST, all the buttons were turned on and everyone on the team breathed a huge sigh of relief as we returned to our home domain on our brand new server. You can find us, safe and sound and partying like crazy, at http://www.cre8asiteforums.com Note: We're discovering some last minute bugs but we're on it. If you see anything, hang in there until we have time to clobber it more ourselves.
Thanks so much to all our loyal subscribers for bearing with us. You've been supportive and I'm very grateful.
Overture and LookSmart woes....Kalena Jordan's SE blog entry for May 7 offers an excellent round up of the latest drama for these two search companies...>>>LookSmart Dives and Overture's Click Index . Worth checking out if you want to keep up with the ever-changing world of search engines.
In case you missed it, part 5 of my Being Tops with Your Users and the Search Engines was a real hit when HighRankings.com's Jill Whalen published it in last week's Advisor newsletter. You can read it here >>> Is Your Website Self-Centered or User-Centered?

Cre8asiteForums update....we're still at our temporary home at www.cre8asite.net/Forums/ but our new server is being built now and we expect to move shortly. It's business as usual though, with lots of talk about Google's SJ Data Center, the client is always right (not!) and where oh where do you put the navigation bar?
A special thanks to Kalena Jordan of High Search Engine Ranking and her Search Engine News blog for helping us get the word out to you about forums status. We worry about our users, but I'm also cracking up at what Google spiders must be "thinking" about our dancing (moving around) pages. Our new home will have LOTS of room, and to prevent more hacking, placed in a little known spot on the Planet Jupiter.
Where the blazes have these people been???? Spam E-Mail Problem Worse Than Imagined. After a 3 day forum on spam, the consensus is there's a serious problem. Duh.
Wanted. Ancient objects worth tons of money. Hand it over to us if you see one lying around (as if.) Seriously though, this site attempts to identify the stolen treasures from Iraq's museums >>> LOST TREASURES FROM IRAQ and with any luck, common decency and humanity, some of it may be found and returned home.
More reasons to avoid JavaScript if you want your web page indexed...Pandia writes "The Search Engine News newletter reports that Google may be downgrading pages that contains affiliate links coded with the javascript "onmouseover" variable."
Did you know you can use AlltheWeb as a calculator? Pandia also notes:
"Enter, for instance, 365*24, hit enter, and AlltheWeb gives you the answer (8760).
The following functions are supported:
Multiply: * Divide: / Add: + Subtract: - Exponent: ^ Use parentheses to group operations: (5+5)*6 "
Now why didn't Google think of this?
Looking for brainfood? Try Shaping the Web: Why the politics of search engines matters Quote: "Our study of search engines suggests that they systematically exclude (in some cases by design and in some accidentally) certain sites, and certain types of sites, in favor of others, systematically give prominence to some at the expense of others. We argue that such biases, which would lead to a narrowing of the Web’s functioning in society, run counter to the basic architecture of the Web as well as the values and ideals that have fueled widespread support for its growth and development."
Wow. Something good to read while on my exercise bike! (Thanks Peter!)
And finally.... Today's Ponder (courtesy of Coolquiz.com)

Countdown...21 days until my birthday........
