Saturday...3:25 pm EST - Status report on Cre8asiteForums

I think the best thing about the forums being down right now is the supportive emails from subscribers who miss it. I heard our friends in the UK absolutely loved it when for awhile the forums was pointing to a Yoga figurines site. The images of women in all sorts of positions seemed to pick everyone up! hummmmmm

We're not thrilled with our server environment (Cobalt RaQ 4 ), so plans are in motion to move the forums elsewhere. Cre8asiteForums gets tremendous traffic so this is a concern. All servers, maintenance, etc. is donated, believe it or not. Even the new home we're in negotiations with would be. Our problems began with a surprise IP/DNS change, but other problems arose after that. No recommended solutions have worked so far. Ours is not the only site effected but it is the largest and busiest on that server.

In the meantime, my lead System Admin, Al, has been changing the splash screen as this mess drags on. The forums point to nodeadlines.net, an IP with many sites under it. If I want to know Al's mood, I just check the splash screen (www.cre8asiteforums.com). It's still better than pointing to a porn site.

I think.

Thanks for bearing with us. Or baring for us. Or whatever you want to do.

Friday morning...7:56 - Cre8asiteForums update

We're experiencing serious DSN problems, which is apparently having an effect on many sites besides the forums. The forums went down yesterday about 10am EST, and a team of folks have been working on the problem(s) since then. Right now the site points to a Yoga site.

Thank Gawd it's not pointing to a porn site. Google would get a real kick outta that!

Update: 1:30 pm EST

The forums no longer point to the Yoga site, although while it did so, you could hear the shocked gasps and loud giggles from around the world.

Now there's a crazed message from our struggling host instead.

All in a day's work.

Mayday, Mayday!! Cre8asiteForums is Down!

In the event that anyone reads this blog (big round of applause ), besides my mate and assorted truly loyal SEO pals, I have an announcement to make.

Actually 2.

The first one is that I woke up this morning, logged on to my PC (we all do that first, right?), and quickly learned all hell broke loose. My email doesn't work, nor does Cre8asiteForums. I even caught a rumor Yahoo was down too, so I felt better for a second. Many calls and bad news later, I learned there's a problem with a sudden DNS change. Sooo, if it's not an East Coast Internet problem, then it's my Karma. You decide.

The second thing is part 4 of my article series is out now in Jill Whalen's High Rankings Advisor newsletter. You can read it here >>> Is Your Website Self-Centered or User-Centered?

So this is what May Day (May 1) is all about.

Blog researchers may get a lot from this article >>> Why Blogs Haven't Stormed the Business World Among other things, this article includes links to blog development tools for computers, handheld devices, etc.

Quote: "The main virtue of blogging is that it closes the arms gap between informed, individual users and official outlets of information." (snip) "But at the rate they're going, blog tools are merely building simple heaps of information, giant mounds of unorganized content. Developers of these tools must implement technologies for moving and transforming entire weblogs before things get seriously out of hand."

Doing time for sending slime...throw 'em in jail and seize their assets earned from spamming >>> Spammers Could Go To Jail

Aren't you getting sick of this question, yet? A recent hire has them placing bets. "One of Silicon Valley's favorite parlor games is guessing when Google will go public." >>> Google Finds a Good Analyst

I was considering buying the Proposal Kit but wasn't quite sure it wasn't another hyped blob of software I'd never use. Not anymore. See Kalena Jordan's amazing review of the product's packages here, and decide for yourself >>> Close The Sale With Proposal Kit - Product Review

For search engine racing fans..."In the US, perhaps surprisingly, Yahoo performs 26 per cent of the 790 million average weekly U.S. searches, slightly ahead of Google on 23 per cent. MSN Search is third with 19 per cent of worldwide searches and 17 per cent of the US with AOL's scores being 12 per cent and 20 per cent respectively." See Google ahead in search-engine league

Watch for Part 4 of my article series, Being Tops with Your Users and the Search Engines, in today's HighRankings.com Advisor newsletter. This one is called "Is Your Website Self Centered or User Centered?"

Crown Kim Day

Today I will have to catch with you later, as the Dentist will have me strapped screaming to my chair for several hours while two crowns are pounded into place.

In the meantime, Bill Slawski, one of our most loyal moderators (has been with Cre8pc and Cre8asite for years!), found this writeup on Cre8asiteForums, for which the entire team was quite grateful to see >>> A Visit to the Top Pay Per Click Forums By: Cindy McMahen
