Warmest Greetings,

I love any opportunity to warn people about SEO scams. Someone wrote to the highly esteemed LangaList with another example of ridiculous promises and clearly questionable tactics aimed at tricking search engines. Sadly, SEO companies like this don't consider your web site visitors, or the clutter they fill engine databases with, but they do want your money, so be very careful.

As if Mr. Sullivan knows this blogs exists.

These days in search engine LaLa Land, I find myself needing to remove myself from the frenzied pace of optimization and keeping up with the PageRank-Joneses. For fun, inspired by Memeword Marketing (see 3/17 blog entry), I created a new word to see how quickly Google would find it and to watch it rank.
Two days later, Cre8ameme makes its Google debut in the number 1 and 2 spots, with no competition, which after all, was the point of this exercise.
Now, it will be my job to usher my word into the Advertising world and make it so well known that people will search for it.
If I only I knew what Cre8meme does.

I really like the story in today's Search Day. It's a true story about an SEO company who learned a client site had been penalized. Since none of the usual possible spam-triggers were utilized for this client's site, the bad news was shocking and puzzling. So, help was sought from other SEO colleagues. This is my favorite part of this story - SEO's working together to help each other help clients.
Click on >>> SearchDay March 18, 2003 - Number 487 - "Stung by Unethical Search Engine Optimization - A True Story"> to learn what was discovered. It may help you understand what to look for when researching SEO companies, or learning what to do and what not do with search engine optimization.
