Matt Bailey posts in his Web Site Accessibility Blog about Google's new search engine that brings back search results to a specific target reader. The blind.
Google Accessible Search algorithms go out and bring back web pages designed to be easy to use with screen readers. A search for "usability and seo" brought this blog in the number one spot for my test search (results may vary depending on where you live.) I was pleased with that.
Though not blind, technically I'm seeing impaired unless my contacts or eyeglasses are in use. I wear a bi-focal contact lense in one eye and another contact lense in my other eye allows me to drive. I need to wear reading glasses to read, even with contact lenses. Without aid, I just see a sea of colors blended together. I can't swim in an ocean unless someone is holding on to my arm or hand (if I expect to get out of the ocean and find my way back to the beach, that is.) Just this little bit of difficulty has given me a life-long appreciation for eye strain, and empathy for those who can not see at all (but who are far braver than I am and often have better use of their other senses.)
My eyesight continues to worsen, as each year goes by. It rarely stablizes. We're always experimenting with things to help me cope. In the back of my mind, however, I believe that someday I will no longer be able to see at all. Hence, my interest in accessibility.
Thank you, Google, for considering the needs of the seeing impaired, or anyone who uses text-only browsing, or relies on screen readers. I may need it someday.

About Kim's Web Site Usability Reviews
"This report exceeded my expectations. After reading it a
few times, I went through and highlighted those parts of your actionable
advice that I want to implement right away... I ended up highlighting
most of the report. Stellar job. I won't hesitate to recommend you
to one of my own clients." -- Andy

"I have implemented the most obvious changes and I suppose the fact that we've seen an immediate increase
in sales/conversions is no coincidence. I'd highly recommend your service to anyone running a serious web based business."
-- Steve Clay, Plumeriabay.com
"As soon as we get our hands on one of her usability
studies, my clients and I have a better understanding of what needs
to be done with their sites to make them the best they can be from their
site visitors' perspective."
