SEO by the Sea, Seashells and Search Engine Marketing
:: Thursday, June 23, 2005 ::
While it seems to be tradition for SEO/SEMs to meet at pubs, there is an alternative that sounds more refreshing and creative. Bill Slawski, an Administrator for Cre8asite Forums and Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal have decided to hold a summer gathering in August called "SEO by the Sea".
They've launched a lovely new blog, called SEO by the Sea which goes into more detail on the event, to be held August 19th, 20th and 21st, 2005.
These guys are truly good hosts. You should see what they're planning. The location is Havre de Grace, Maryland, USA, which is French for “Habor of Grace.” Bill writes,
"It’s the town that Loren and I work in. It also seemed like a nice place for people to converge. It’s filled with Bed and Breakfasts, sailboats, restaurants, antique and craft shops, a great golf course, museums, and more."
The event is a relaxed venture.
"Loren suggested around a month or so ago that we try to put together some type of summer time get-together for people who work on the web, and pay a lot of attention to search engines."

Once again, Jakob Nielsen goes through public lashing.
Is Jakob Nielsen evil, stupid or just plain lazy?
Lazy, stupid and evil design
"Having a coffee and cake with Jakob Nielsen, the web usability expert from Nielsen Norman Group, I asked him what was holding up progress on the web. "Three things, really: I call them lazy, stupid and evil design," he replies."
