Warmest Greetings,
Toodles IE5, and Thanks For all the Fish
:: Monday, March 28, 2005 ::
In a courageous move that may signal a stampede of copycats, Signal vs Noise has called a halt to IE 5.5 support.
In Drawing a line in the sand: No more IE 5.x support in Basecamp and our future products, they write:
"The time has come to move on. We’re phasing out IE 5.x support in Basecamp and not supporting IE 5.x in any future products we develop."
and
"Sure, we could have hacked in support for IE 5.x, or built alternate versions for older browsers, but legacy support is not the way to build a forward looking product."
There's just something downright sexy about a web dev team that steps up to the plate, whacks the ball and runs like hell to first base without ever looking back to see if Mr. Gates is watching (whose own company, by the way, doesn't support older versions of its own stuff either.)
