Warmest Greetings,
Web Design Re-Runs and an SEO One Too
:: Tuesday, January 04, 2005 ::
In the blur of the holidays, some good items popped up worth noting. Here are a few of my favorites...
Web design world cool-down by Molly E. Holzschlag. Molly's blog piece, which discusses her observations about web designers lately, has lots of gems for good reading. Some were funny, like:
"Dammit, it’s not an “alt tag”. I still can’t get over the fact we continue to say this! Talk about a pet peeve of mine. There is no such thing as an alt element, no such thing as an alt tag. Stats, Ecommerce and Real Life by Diane Vigil points to a thoughtful thread on the relationship between ecommerce and real life shopping.
Diane writes, "There's more to sales than just automating everything and tracking all them "visitor units" through an online store to arrive at some kind of conclusion as to what's really happening. Tunnel vision with bean counting and stats. That's what I call it."
For SEO, and link madness, this is too good to miss. An Example of Hidden Links to "Bad Neighborhoods
And, if you missed it...Rubber Stamped Blog. It's a new Directory. And it talks to you via its own blog. Clever.

GuruNet now offers a free alternative site called Answers.net (Thanks Diane.).
Interview with John S. Rhodes of WebWord and Oristus
"I feel that the biggest issue with blogs is that most people can't write worth a damn. Once again, the problem is people, not technology. People always blame technology. It drives me buggers. I'm a usability guy saying, "Blame yourself!" That has to mean something."
