Warmest Greetings,
Google Accepts Microsoft Doorway Pages?
:: Friday, September 17, 2004 ::
Will Google ban Microsoft for spamming its search engine?
An incredible find by Alan Webb ("Webby") of ABAKUS Internet Marketing shows that Microsoft has 575 "doorway" pages sitting in Google's index. This is a direct violation of Google's rules. How fair is it that other web sites are banned for spamming Google?
How does Google justify asking people to report Spam, but ignore this policy when its a mega-company, competitor such as Microsoft?
Topic >> Microsoft using doorway pages
"Microsoft have a whole bunch of imo low quality doorway pages that redirect and have stuffed keywords randomly into unrelated paragraphs. (snip) Their pages break at least 2 of googles guidelines (doorway pages with redirects, stuffed keywords ...)."
"Click Here" Debate
Do traffic stats prove usability theory wrong?
The standard thought in the Usability Kingdom is that "Click here" is redundant, unnecessary, sloppy design and an interference more than a user aid.
Click here, redundant or a standard? shows something as teeny as this design detail can toss everyone into a frenzy, especially your boss or client says "Do it anyway!"

Going to Boston!
I've made a zillion arrangements, including boarding the dog and making sure all the kids get to their sports practices.
Next week I attend Jill Whalen's High Rankings Search Engine Marketing Seminar and Workshop in Boston. Scottie Claiborne of RightClickWebs has graciously invited me to assist in her Usability workshop on Friday.
In addition to finally meeting many folks from the SEO world, I also will finally meet a few of my staff at Cre8asiteForums for the first time.
And, it's the first time I go to Boston.
Expect some stories when I return! (Especially from the pub gathering on Thursday night...)
