Warmest Greetings,
Your Web Site Is A Wonderland: What Picasso’s Art Taught Me About Persuasive Design
:: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 ::
"Persuasiveness and desirability in web site design are in the details. They're in the point of view and in the delivery, and more than anything else, in the experience of interaction. They are that inner cosmic connection between the web site and site visitor"
I wrote one of my longest articles ever on usability and have to admit, it's also my favorite. But, it was real chore to get across the ideas forming in my head (for months and months) and finding the right way to present them so they'd make sense.
A visit to an opening night of a friend's art show presented me with the perfect way to describe the art of usability and persuasive design.
Bill Slawski, an Administrator for Cre8asiteForums, edited it and helped me flesh out what I was trying express. But first, I had to make sure HE understood!
Grab your printer or curl up somewhere to read Your Web Site Is A Wonderland: What Picasso’s Art Taught Me About Persuasive Design, which WebPronews has just published online.
"The idea of being able to bring different experiences to art, and enter a painting from different areas based upon your experience is something that can apply to web sites as well as cubist art. How do you plan a web site’s “continuous dimension of consciousness?” In other words, how do you keep people on your web site, no matter what their original intent is? Regardless of whether their intent is just to browse, or to evaluate the site? Or to conduct a transaction, or to return as a customer?"

Blog news:
Sir Zeldman has replaced the picture I mused about in an earlier post (about breasts and blogs). For sure, he didn't do it because of me. So now I'm jealous. The new image on his blog is really distinctive looking. I like it. When you take a look, read what he writes about the inside story about what went into creating the new Google Blogger.
"You can practically smell Jeff Veen and his Adaptive Path colleagues in Blogger.com’s smart, info-driven architecture."
Yes Virginia, Google has a blog. As if we need a blog to know what's going on there. My latest copy of Scientific American even has a classified want ad for Google, who is still hiring.
