Warmest Greetings,
:: Tuesday, December 09, 2003 ::
You can tell it's getting nearer to Christmas here in the US. Suddenly, the pace picks up and there's nowhere near enough hours in the day to get stuff done. What it is we're all doing is anyone's guess.
Yesterday's rant drew some interesting responses. Feel free to add your "Click here" button to the list. Some of the ones people added are very funny.
There's something new in town. The Apple Pie Cart is an "SEO optimized" shopping cart. It's new. It's making its rounds. Although targeted to small and medium businesses, I was disappointed at the price. I would consider it if you have a sound business plan, good financial backing and expect to be selling online for years to come. I'd also like to see a mini-version for things such as ebook sales and software downloads. After investigating many applications that manage online sales for ebooks and downloads, including Payloadz, I'm really unhappy with the usability and user interface of all of them. The Apple Pie Cart site is well designed and easy to get around. It's worth a peek for sure.
If you hadn' thought of adding a search function to your blog, in addition to archives, this thread is highly useful and includes links to get you going. Site Search on a Blog
Another SEO blog to step into the ring. SEO Roundtable has invited writers to "speak". Some of them may be familiar to you. Sadly, they too don't cover usability. The emphasis is still just search, not making sure the site is worthy once it's found and clicked into. Ah well...
Reduced rate. If you're still relatively new to the art of making ecommerce sites easier to use, "Please Ring Bell for Service" is for you.
Goodies from DMOZ. New in DMOZ
"It's been calculated that the ODP adds 1,000 listings a day. So what kind of sites are editors eager to list? I thought I'd pick out a few as I add them.
What we like are unique and completed sites. They might not be the super-swishest things you've ever seen, but we don't worry about that, if they do the job of presenting the information. "
