It's All Not About Me
Among other things, today's horoscope for me read "Not everyone can see your kind of perfection, but you don't need a big audience." I had to smile. For those people who REALLY REALLY know me, they'd understand this to be so true.
In a discussion about branding in Cre8asiteForums, which is sadly tucked into the Google forum topic and likely missed by experienced professional marketers, there were some examples brought up on how branding is done on the Internet. There were many examples discussed, including how some people brand themselves and the ways they get the word out about themselves. Does every person or every website need a search engine for marketing purposes?
I prefer to be of service, working behind the scenes. I like to be recognized for my hard work and appreciated, but kind words go a long way with me and of course, paying my invoices on time. I don't need to be honored or interviewed by popular print media outlets. I prefer that the people that work with me on projects get noticed, like the good folks who manage Cre8asiteForums. We have a unique thing there.
Ammon Johns (Black Knight), Bill Slawski (Bragadocchio) and me (Cre8pc) are Administrators with common personal traits. One of the biggest is that none of us *needs* the forums for our own self gratification. The Moderators and Technical Administrators are lively, thoughtful, and work quite hard to be fair to everyone. We're all there because it's like coming home to a big family gathering every day.
In some ways it's like how my son comes to me for help with his homework. It helps him to have someone to go to when he can't find the answer himself or needs help solving a problem. He doesn't worship me because I'm there or available. He's just grateful there's help. It's the same thing with Cre8asiteForums. Everyone there is part of the help network, not just the Moderators.
May I, in my work in website user interface/usability evaluations and we, at Cre8asiteForums, be a comfortable resource for you in 2004. Thank you to all forum members for helping other members with their "homework" and especially to those who review sites in the Website Hospital.
For me, perfection is what happens when everyone works together, is together, and wants to be together to experience even more.
In many Native American languages there is no word for "I". Only "we" and "our".
Happy New Year.
